French director Henri-Georges Clouzot is renowned for suspenseful classics. This incredible documentary Henri-George Clouzot's Inferno gives us new appreciation for his creativity through footage from an unfinished film. In 1964, Clouzot set out to direct the story of a husband who suffers bouts of jealousy over his new bride. Hollywood investors promised Clouzot an unlimited budget, which he spent experimenting with months of camera tests. Clouzot sought to evoke a powerful eroticism through images as simple as that of the lead actress puffing a cigarette (and just wait till you see how she handles a slinky toy). Though never completed, this film documents how old-fashioned movie tools were used to great effect.
